Stoke is a 1984 Chestnut AQHA Gelding. He is the kind of horse that every family needs, a once in a lifetime horse. We have been blessed to have owned him for the last 17 years.
In 2005 Stoke ended his awesome show career by once again earning a Superior Western Versatility with Franklin Trail Riders, along with may High Point Year End awards, including Trail. Erin was the only one to not have shown Stoke at the NY State Fair 4-H Western Division. Her goal in 2005 was to qualify and take Stoke as her brother and sister had done. She did and took him to the fair. It was also Erins first year riding in the much harder Senior Division. But she had an old stand by to help her. Erin and Stoke won Senior Trail, got 2nd in Western Horsemanship, 5th in Western Riding and 8th in Stock Seat Equitation. AT 21 he had proved he was still on top. I wanted his show career to end that way. As I heard his named called for 1st in the Senior Trail class. I made the decision to retire him. He and Megan earned 5 AQHA All Arounds and 1 Reserve. With Larry he went Grand Champion Gelding and earned 2 Reserve All Arounds.
Stoke now 23 came out of full retirement this year to attend 2 shows and to teach some parents and 4-Hers what to look for in a youth or even adult mount. He has just loved all the attention. He is on light duty but is acting younger now. For old times sake Larry and Erin took him in trail. Ah the old man didn't forget his favorite class. He ended up the 2007 FTR Champion in Youth Trail and Reserve in Adult trail and third in Western Riding. He just makes it look so easy. What a horse!
